Gemma Christina Arterton is an English actress known for her roles in movies that include 'Quantum Of Solace' and 'The Disappearance of Alice Creed', and 'Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters'. Her birthplace was in Gravesend (Kent), Greater London and she was a student at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Her career began after she was graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She made her debut in a comedic show called "St. Trinian's". In the following year, she starred in the spy thriller "James Bond" film 'Quantum of Solace'. It was a commercial success and was generally praised. The actress then played the lead female character in the action fantasy film , 'Prince of Persiania: The Sands of Time'. More recently, she played an supporting part on the French film "Orphan,". Arterton has been nominated for numerous prizes throughout her career. She was awarded"the "Empire Award for the Top Newcomer" in the movie "Quantum Of Solace," in addition to an "Evening Standard Theatre Award" for her performance in the musical'Made in Dagenham".
